Programme Areas
The
Strengthening Sustainable Livelihoods and Livelihoods
Management Programme (SSLFM) is implemented in the following
regions:
Amhara,
Benishagul Gumz,
Oromia
and
SNNPR.
In Amhara Regional State
the Programme operates in Awi zone, South Gonder, at Ketahisa
(spreading in Ankasha, Banja, Fageta Lekoma woreds) and
Taragedam (spreading in Lebokemekem woreda) forests. The
total number of expected beneficiaries is around 30
thousand. Implementation Kebeles are 33. In these Kebeles
12 Forest Management Groups (FMGs) will be
established.
SSLFM is operating in
Benishagule Gumz
Regional State at
Anbessa Chaka, Mender 42 and Aba Moti Terara Forests (in
Bambasi Woreda),
Gore Shoshame, Gara
Mimi, Horguba and Keser Forests
(in Mao-Komo
Woreda), Dama
Terarra, Gize Afallo and Soree Terrara Forests, (in Komesha Woreda), Agubella,
Beshir, Salima and Dilash Forests
(in Kumruk Woreda), and
Gizen, Gemed and Sherkole Forests
(in Sherkole Woreda). The
total number of beneficiaries is expected to be 30,000.
In the 45 Kebeles 12
Forest Management Groups (FMGs)
will be established. SSLFM operates in Assosa zone.
Oromia region is
the largest intervention region. The Programme operates
in three administarative zones: Kelem Wellega, Illu Aba Bora
and Guji. In Kelem Wellega the programme operates at
Gergeda Forest, which spreads in
Sayo, Yemalogi Walal, Anfilo, Jima Horo, Gidami and Gawo
Kebe woredas.
Sayilem Gebre
Dima is the forest in Illu Aba
Bora zone. The forest spreads in Becho, Ale and Didu
woredas. Anferera Wadera forest spreads in Adola and
Wadera woredas of the Guji zone.
The
total number of beneficiaries is 80,000.
In the three zones 34
Forest Management Groups (FMGs)
will be established. Implementation Kebeles are
116.
In SNNP Region
SSLFM operates in four woredas called Yeki, Bita, Chena and Gewata. The total number of people
benefiting from the project are estimated to be 60,000.
In 34 Kebeles
26 FMGs will be established and contribute to the
conservation of forests and improve the livelihoods of
the people. |
