Introduction
The PFMP Programme
The PFMP aims to improve efficiency and effectiveness of forest utilisation and conservation through Participatory Forest Management across Bonga, Borana, Chilimo (Ethiopia) and Nou (Tanzania).
Our outputs and activities include:
Conservation through the establishment of sustainable forest management systems
- PFM plans prepared, implemented and monitored
- Forest rights, responsibilities and revenues established
- Forest user groups developed and empowered
Complementary natural resource management and Non-Timber Forest Products technologies adopted by local communities
- Farmer-led participatory research
- Successful technologies adopted
- Livelihood support activities financed through a community development fund
Capacity of partner organisations, government and community developed
- Increased capacity within government and community
- Government and community working partnerships established
- Government and community based monitory systems established
New forest policy developed and increased networking and dissemination of experiences
- Project publications produced in a verity of media
- Dissemination and sharing of information
- Institutionalise PFM through local and national networks and working groups
We work in partnership with communities, government, local and international organisations to make PFM part of the government policy.
